Waller County Healthy Lifestyles Family Fun Day

All Waller County residents–youth, parents, friends, family—are invited to attend the Healthy Lifestyles Family Fun Day on Wednesday, August 17, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the newly opened Hempstead Recreation Center located on 635 Business 290 E., Hempstead, TX  77445.  The Cooperative Extension Program at Prairie View A&M University and UnitedHealthcare are sponsoring this fun-filled, educational event.

Special educational sessions will feature:  All You Need to Know about 4-H and Becoming a 4-H Member, RIPE Fruit is the RIGHT Fruit where you will learn how to choose ripe fruit as well as taste some delicious samples, Nutrition Education/Nutrition Youth Jeopardy where the MyPlate concept will be revealed with tips and hand-outs paired with a Nutrition Youth Jeopardy game and Sun Safety to help you learn the benefits of protecting your skin from the hot, beaming sun rays.

The schedule follows:  9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon – Educational Healthy Lifestyle Sessions; 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch;  1:00 – 1:30 – Sun Safety; and 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. – Physical Activities.

A highlight of the Fun Day will be a special partnership presentation between the event sponsors. Make sure to attend this fun-filled and learning event! There will be giveaways, games and more.
